Dermot Brennan

Dermot Brennan

Dermot trained in practice with Bastow Charleton. In 1988 he established Dermot Brennan and Associates (now DBASS). The practice has grown from humble beginnings and Dermot has always prided the business on its personal touch with all clients.

Dermot is principally involved in the business consultancy end of the firm as well as keeping everyone on their toes!

Play:

Dermot is an avid follower of many sports, of which horseracing is his first love as with many residents of the Royal County. He is married with three children and resides quite close to the practice base.


Michael Byrne

Michael joined DBASS in 1995 as a trainee accountant having obtained a degree in Business Studies (Management) from the College of Commerce, Dublin. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1998 and became a partner in 2006.

Michael is principally involved with companies and their directors in all walks of life. He has extensive commercial experience in business and taxation advice.

Play:

Away from the office Michael spends time with his young family. He is an avid GAA follower and part-time golfer of sorts. The garden takes up the rest of his spare time.


Paul Doran

Paul joined DBASS in 1995 as a trainee accountant having finished a two year course in Rathmines. He attended DBS Aungier Street where he qualified in 1998 as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Paul's work involves working on everything from sole traders to companies, from Farmers to Manufacturing companies to Builders. Over the 14 years that Paul has been at DBASS he has managed to gain a vast commercial and tax knowledge that is beneficial on a daily basis.

Play:

After two years of marriage and a new baby Paul has plenty to keep himself occupied with at home. He is getting into walking to try and ensure that he is here for the next 14 years. He is a keen follower of a good Saturday night out.


Tom Barry

Tom Barry

Tom studied at Dundalk Institute of Technology, obtaining a Diploma in Accounting in 1994 followed by a Bachelor of Business Studies Degree in 1995.

Having trained in practice since 1998, he completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations in December 1999.

In 2000 he was appointed audit manager, and then moved to a financial controller role in the food industry in 2004. Having gained 2 years experience in industry he moved back into general practice when he joined DBASS in August 2006.

With over 11 years experience, Tom currently manages a broad portfolio of clients.

Play

When away from the office, Tom helps out on the family farm. He also has a keen interest in greyhound breeding and racing. Having hung up his boots with his local GAA club, Tom assists the club in a fundraising capacity. He is married with two trainee accountants (kids).


Daniel Blair

Daniel studied at the Regional Technical College Carlow obtaining a Certificate in Business Studies. Daniel then studied in the Institute of Technology Tallaght, obtaining a Diploma and a Degree in Accounting.

Daniel joined DBASS in 1999 as a trainee accountant and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2002.

Daniel works on a broad selection of clients including construction, bloodstock, rental properties and professional services.

Daniel has expertise in taxation, audit and accounting, bank finance, property, corporate restructuring and business mentoring.

Play:

Daniel is an avid supporter of soccer and motor sport and most other sporting events. He plays soccer weekly for the social aspect and to keep fit. He has travelled to many countries to attend Formula 1 races. He likes to listen to music, watching comedies and socialising.


Melissa Phibbs

Melissa studied at Institute of Technology Tallaght, obtaining a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies & Accounting in 2004.

Melissa joined DBASS in June of 2004 as a trainee accountant and completed her final examinations in 2006 and upon finishing her training contract she qualified as a chartered accountant in February 2007. She is mainly involved in audit and accounting assignments.

Play

Melissa enjoys supporting the Dublin GAA team. She also enjoys going to the gym, horse-riding and socialising with friends.


Eoghan Farrelly

Eoghan studied at University College Dublin, obtaining a BA (Hons) Degree in Economics & Politics in 2002. In 2003 Eoghan received a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy from Dublin Institute of Technology. He joined DBASS in 2003 as a trainee accountant.

Eoghan completed his final examinations in 2005 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2006.

Eoghan works across a broad selection of clients including construction, retail, manufacturing and professional services in both a compliance and advisory capacity.

Areas of expertise for Eoghan span taxation, accounting, audit, bank financing and property.

Play:

A keen follower of all sports, Eoghan enjoys attending sport events all over the country, often combining them with weekends away. Eoghan works as a volunteer within the GAA. He also enjoys playing golf, hill walking, listening to music and socialising.


Seán O'Reilly

Seán O'Reilly

A native of Co. Wicklow, Seán joined DBASS in 2005. He has a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Studies and Accounting and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in February 2009. Along with providing audit and accounting services Seán can offer expert advice in all areas of accounting systems implementation and management. Seán also provides personal 1 on 1 training sessions and remote IT systems support.

Seán's other key competence is in the area of Personal Taxation where he offers tax planning advice etc.

Play:

Outside the office Seán likes to play football and the "occasional" game of poker. As much as he likes to play sport he enjoys watching it even more, especially football and boxing. Seán also loves to travel and is an avid film fan.
