Damien Lodge- DBASS Trainee Story
)
Damien is a Business Studies Graduate from Dublin Institute Of Technology. In March 2020 he started his journey with DBASS to become a Chartered Accountant.
I joined DBASS in the second year of my Chartered Accountancy training, having moved from another firm. DBASS provided extensive training during my first weeks covering the different technological systems in addition to the many operating procedures in DBASS which allow everyone in the firm to be consistent in how they prepare accounts and returns for clients.
Central to my induction training was learning the “DBASS Way” which involved understanding the importance of being a client based firm where everything we do always comes back to how we can maximise value for our clients.
DBASS as a firm are constantly driving improvements within their internal processes, and it’s a great place to learn as a trainee. Currently I am working within the taxation department, however I also get an overview of other areas of accountancy and there are many training courses on offer throughout the year.
My day to day work in DBASS has really helped me as I progress through my studies with Chartered Accountants Ireland, as the work I am doing directly relates to the CAP 2 course modules. I am looking forward to the coming years, to completing my studies and furthering my knowledge of accountancy through the ongoing support and training I receive from the partners, managers and staff at DBASS.
