Trainee Story Giuliano Loughran

Giuliano is an Accountancy and Finance  Graduate from Dundalk Institute Of Technology.  In September 2020 he started his journey with DBASS to become a Chartered Accountant.

Having recently graduated I accepted my first full-time position as a trainee accountant at DBASS, working towards an ACA qualification of Chartered Accountant.

On my first day I received a training manual which gave a detailed breakdown of the various information systems used in DBASS. At first, I was surprised by the strong emphasis on technology, however with the continued help and support I have received from DBASS partners, managers and staff, I have developed an excellent understanding of all systems and have learned to use these comfortably.

I received a very warm welcome from all the staff at DBASS and currently work within the tax department. Initially I was given small tasks before gradually moving to larger and more complex tasks as my knowledge grew.

There is a very positive atmosphere in DBASS and I have found my colleagues to be very approachable. As this is my first full-time job, I was initially a little nervous, however the knowledge that I am surrounded by such a generous and supportive team at DBASS helps me daily to achieve my goals.

Working in DBASS has given me more confidence, as I grow my knowledge of the industry and it has opened my eyes to how passionate DBASS are about their work.  It is this same passion that I want to carry with me every day throughout my career.

My first year at DBASS has been very rewarding and I have developed skills which I know will be useful throughout my career. At DBASS a great amount of time is invested in helping you to grow, improve and succeed as you work towards your professional accreditation. I am very grateful for all the support I have received to date and I am really looking forward to the next few years of my training and to becoming an ACA Chartered Accountant.
